Great Work If You Can Get It:How To Create Positive Work Organisations
Thursday May 13th, 2010
On Thursday 13th May 2010 at 6pm-8pm, Professor Michael West, Executive Dean at Aston Business School, will be delivering a guest lecture at Newcastle Business School.
This interesting and informative guest lecture will be of relevance to anyone interested in how to create a better work environment both for fulfilling the mission of their organisation but also for ensuring the flourishing, well being and development of staff. It will be particularly relevant for leaders and those who wish to improve team working. The talk will first explain the responsibilities of leaders, focusing on enlightened people management and demonstrating the link with effective organisational performance.
Evidence from positive psychology will be presented that shows the fundamental need for positive climates and good relationships at work. The presentation will show how we can build real team working in organizations rather than pseudo team working to help create creative and supportive environments.
Finally, the recent failings of institutions and leaders will be addressed in relation to the importance of adherence to core human values in the workplace. Drawing on his 30 years of experience nationally and internationally working with organizations, particularly in health services, Professor West will propose practical but powerful ways of transforming the world of work for the better.
